Best Practices for Building a New Data Center

This course is based upon an actual case study involving a data center that was built and commissioned at the University of Texas Health Science Center (UTHSC) in Houston, Texas. It will examine the best practices for building a new 7,000 square foot (2,134 square meter) data center. The goal of this case study is to demonstrate the project process for deploying a rack based infrastructure data center design. The case study also highlights how proper design can facilitate operational process standardization and can provide efficient power and cooling to support higher density data center loads.
* Describe the various business drivers for a new data center design/build project * Recognize data center site selection issues * Establish data center design preferences and constraints * Identify key steps in the implementation phase * List the best practices for data center design
